BNP Paribas in Spain
The BNP Paribas Group is well rooted in Spain’s economic history. There have been many milestones on the way to creating the BNP Paribas Group as we know it today.
The Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas (Paribas) were the first international banks in Spain.
Following the deregulation of the financial market in 1979, BNP and Paribas were among the first financial institutions able to operate fully in Spain, prior to their merger in the year 2000, underpinning their leading position in the areas of private banking and corporate banking.
